The Khans rule Bollywood but there isn't yet any consensus on who the real King Khan is. While the Khan versus Khan battles continue to hog the headlines, we went online to find some answers. And guess who emerged the winner? Sallu! All competition was left far behind.
Seeking help from Google Insights for Search - a new service from Google that analyses the web searches from all Google domains relative to the total number of searches done on Google over a period of time - we plotted the Khans face to face in this great googling battle.
Salman Khan vs Shah Rukh Khan vs Aamir Khan vs Saif Ali Khan vs Fardeen Khan (Fardeen was just for the sake of conformity). The latest Khan on the block, Imran Khan, was deliberately left out, as he is still a recent arrival.
Though we knew that Salman was popular, the results were surprising. The shirtless wonder's popularity outdid all the other Khans by a mile and more.
In all the searches for the Khans worldwide (for the period 2004 to present) Salman scored 51 in a scale of 100, Shah Rukh was a distant runner-up with 23 on the search volume index. Aamir tallied 15, Saif 10 and Fardeen managed a five. When the analysis was limited only to India or to a more recent time period, the disparity was even greater.
While Salman's popularity on the WWW is marked by sudden spikes, his popularity has shown a rapid rise in recent months. The unofficial Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, as a search term witnessed a steady dip on the Insights ratings.
The reclusive-when-no-release-is-happening Aamir Khan has of late pulled together some search queries. Thanks to his blog.
Netizens seem to be interested in Saif Ali Khan mainly because of his romantic association with Kareena Kapoor. As for Fardeen, people showed some interest only during his marriage.
To add some romance to this manly keyword fight, we introduced ex-flame Aishwariya Rai and current girlfriend Katrina Kaif into the fray. And Ash, for a change, beat Salman 36-14 (in a scale of 100) and Miss Kaif has overtaken the muscle man in recent months.
If it soothes Sallu's ego, he is much more popular in the online world than the Little B and the Big B.
Our analysis threw up quite few other interesting trends:
Salman Khan is a big hit in Somalia and the strife-torn Somalis are only interested in Sallu and don't seem to care a damn for the other Khans.
Pakistan displays more interest in the Khans of Bollywood than India.
At last can comfortably answer the question - Bollywood ka King kaun?
